SYNOPSIS
Cevher is the head of a family involved in a clan feud. According to the tradition, he is the intended victim of the next murder, therefore he decides to pay money to his enemies for his own life. His proposal is accepted, but Cevher is penniless. After getting a job as a cotton picker, he turns down the estate manager's proposal to take his daughter into his service. When the underpaid pickers go on strike, Cevher, more and more avaricious and desperate, will become a scab, working day and night...

The consciousness of his role as a film maker is crystal-clear. In a scene we watch the showing in the square of a propaganda documentary on Cyprus war, then a few scenes from Ağit.
